The Diet and Education Department of Baqai Institute of Diabetology and Endocrinology ( BIDE) provides a structured education program designed to empower young individuals with type 1 diabetes to better manage their condition. It focuses on providing practical skills for insulin adjustment based on the individual's lifestyle and dietary choices. Participants in the program learn to estimate the carbohydrate content of their meals, self-adjust insulin doses, and understand the impact of physical activity on blood sugar levels and also emphasize flexibility in daily life, encouraging a more normal approach to eating while maintaining glycemic control

EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITY FOR WARD STAFF

The Diet and Education department conducted a one month educational activity for ward staff. The program was divided into two-week intervals, with the initial focus on diet-related topics and the subsequent two weeks dedicated to educational concepts. During the diet-focused sessions, staff members delved into fundamental knowledge regarding nutrition, myths and facts, and dietary considerations. The latter half of the program shifted the focus to broader educational principles relevant to insulin techniques, hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia management and self monitoring of blood glucose (SMBG) ensuring a comprehensive understanding of key concepts essential for effective ward management. This initiative aimed to enhance the skills and knowledge base of the ward staff, ultimately contributing to improved patient care and well-rounded professional development
